Black Rock > Rain Or Shine

On that Black Rock is where I spend my time
Writing them memories and writing them rhymes
Thinking about what's right or wrong
On the Black Rock, where I love to go
After a long night coming home from my show
And that is where I wrote me some songs
All night long, Black Rock, yeah

Well sometimes I just look around
Take in that feeling coming out from that ground
That's just something that I'm doing sometimes
Then I come out my door
Pulling that wind up off the shore
That's just what we're doing tonight, yeah

On that Black Rock is where I spend my time
Writing down memories and writing my rhyme
Thinking about what's right or wrong, woah
And on that Black Rock, where I like to go
After a long night coming home from my show
Where I wrote my song, all night long, the Black Rock, yeah
Montgomery County

One, maybe two, many years ago
Man I can't remember, it's been so long
Broke out my house got to walkin real quick
Ended up at the Black Rock, fog was thick
Sat down on the rock, had a smoke, maybe three
Can't remember, they're talkin to me
I got a feeling, damn this rock gonna talk to me
Out the fog came an old man walkin to me
He said ‘Boy you gonna learn about this life'
I said ‘Man I'm gonna learn about this life'
He said ‘Boy you gotta understand this life'
I said ‘Old man, I think you're right
So what's your name, tell me tonight
I gotta understand what you know about life'
We out here on the Black Rock
MD state line, Rockville's a state and it's mine
Sittin back, recline, I got the Rockville MD in the back of my mind
And I remember, because it smell so fine
This old man start to talk to me this time
What's your name old man, what you saw?
What's your name old man, tell me now?
What's your name old man?
He said I'm Old Man Time

Yea, my son, I been waiting for you so long
I can see you're in pain and I know that there's something wrong
I know that you been angry, I know that you've seen hate
You gotta dig deep to the heavens above
Sit down, learn, and create
You gotta lose all your anger, lose all your hate
It ain't gonna work no more
I wish the world was run by love and absolutely nothing more

Lay down all my pain, I got rhythm I hear
And I just chillin on the big Black Rock
And the rest of my life, this is where I'll stay You all have a Black Rock in your mind
And we can go there anytime
To the Black Rock (rock, rock, rock)
