Reviews I was having a good time after they got their new stuff out of the way.I was 5 rows back and I was trying to Video record the show when this event staff guy came over and made me stop and delete anything on my memory card. What a dick head. My brother took up for me and told him to get a real job. He said he worked for the government, then I told him he worked for merriweather. He asked my brother where he worked and he replied at CCBC as a computer technician or whatever the hell he does. The the guy was like oh. He threatened to kick me out if I kept recording. So I left my seat and went to the lawn and started to record the screen where I remained for the rest of the concert. The concert was my 22nd and pretty good. Opening with love a memories was horrible. I shouted to OAR that it sucked and gave a big thumbs down, I don't know why people like this new crap especially the newer album which is even worse. Otherwise the concert was good. It ended and then I left. Then i got home to find out that my Ravens and O's magnet was stolen. So all you High school faggots who went there. I hope you got busted, because i have been to over 100 concerts and have never had that happen before. never before. this is such crap. So screw you all especially whoever stole my magnets you fags. I may never go to another OAR concert ever again. Thanks for nothing.

BTW i have videos uploaded on my youtube from this show. I have some good 06 videos, check em out here: http://www.youtube.com/Parrotisla

BTW i was suppose to do the meet and greet. I RSVPed on the 17th. Then they e-mailed me back on the 22nd to tell me that the columbia one was full. I am outraged. There like pick another meet and greet. So yeah like I'm gonna drive to ohio or holmdel just to meet OAR, hello!? have you seen those gas prices?!! I just totally got f***ed over.

BTW I appreciate the recording Live in a Flash, but everyone knows mp3's are a sin. -parrotisla July 26, 2008
WAR SONG WAS SICK.

except for the microphone messing up during this town the concert was amazing -OARyanderson July 26, 2008
This show was the most amazing of any O.A.R. show i've been to. I had a meet and greet pass and met the band before the show and it just about the best thing ever. They were friendly and so gracious. There were a couple sound problems early, but otherwise it was great. They played my 3 favorite songs ever in a row, 52-50, I feel Home, and City on Down. Everything about the show tonight was amazing and I am amazed by just how much every time I see them, I manage to love their music more. I got a USB wristband with the entire show on it. It's freaking awesome. I love you guys and your music. Thank you for continuing to inspire me every day. :)

I just want to add that you, parrotisla, were irrationally aggressive towards the people who worked at Merriweather. It's their job to make sure people don't videotape. Quit ripping off the band. It's not like they don't make available tons of their performances and also made available the entire show 2 minutes after it ended on USB. Like really? You're going to be that rude to someone? Boo, you lost your magnets. I think it would be just fine if you never went to another O.A.R. concert considering how rude you apparently were. More room for fans who are just there to enjoy and have a good time. And not another person to be rude to concert staff. -mary7877 July 26, 2008
This show was the best of the 3 that I've seen at Merriweather and one of the better shows I've seen them play. Hands down, OAR never fails to impress me and they sounded great tonight. Especially when they open with Love & Memories. After that, Program Director and Destination are just fun songs to get you in the mood.

Merriweather seemed to have some technical difficulties on the sound board during This Town (not during Shattered), which is an awesome song. Some horrible screachy feedback blew up in Marc's ear and got us all too. Then it went silent, and then they got back to rockin' out. Good recovery, and the song was pretty darn cool for their first 'new song.'

Lay Down was incredible with the triple-man drum interruption. HELL YES. That was just amazing. Some new songs here and there were okay, but it seems that half the audience took a beer break for Living in the End (I think I'm the only one who likes this song) and Shattered needs some work for live shows. It's vanilla.

If I hear Heard the World one more time, I'm going to hang myself from the nearest tree. OVERRATED.

I loved the classic triple of So Moved On, Here's to You, and King of the Thing. If you didn't know OAR years ago, you probably found it boring. But it rocked.

Then Poker rocked, naturally. If it isn't hard enough to follow that song with anything, they pulled it off with War Song, which was the best performance of their new stuff. 52-50 was not a bad closer for the main set. Kinda overplayed since they used to open with it, but always intense (coulda been better to play another classic like Hey Girl). Encore of I Feel Home (necessary at home) to City On Down (also necessary) and then Night Shift was just a fun, awesome way to finish it off. The Encore just brought it up another level from an already great show.

Show number 39 and one of my favorites. Started off a tad slow. Love and Memories is a good opener, Destination and Program Director. From there the show crushed. Living In The End was a 10. Not my favorite before tonight, it is just a great live song. War Song a 9.5. Intense. So Moved On was great, King Of The Thing kick ass. I Feel Home--- City On Down (Organ) --- Night Shift is the way to close the show. The crowd was great. No one sat down, lot of people singing the words, I didn't see any fighting. Also Shattered was short but great. Would love to see them have an intro. or outro. and a little spot for Marc to rock but it was great. Also This Town is just a perfect live song. That will become an opener, closer or final song. Overall show was a 9. Went with my bro and pops and it was their first out of state show and they dug it. Can't wait for another three coming up!!! Also love the fact they didn't kill you on the new album. The only slight negative is the cookie cutter "SOAS" songs. They can fade those out, say two and play one more off new album (One Day, Fallout, On My Way or Whatever Happened) and give us one more old song (About An Hour Ago, The Wanderer, Conquering Fools, Revisted etc.) and then we are in the realm of top shows. 19 songs 2 hours plus, great blend. -tindawg31 July 26, 2008
This show was sick it was my seventh, and one of the best. I also had a meet and greet pass and when i went back i went up to Richard and told him that i had heard the reviews of War Song live were incredible. And he was just like second to last song on the set. War Song imo can become a every concert song, i like how they do it kinda like city on down, where they pause and you think its over and then mark comes back and jams for another couple mins. The new stuff was great, I feel home and night shift were also really good, So moved was awesome, it was a great show. Also i wanted to get the wristband but at the end of the show the lines were packed, I feel bad taking money for them but if anyone would wanna share the taped concert, i would greatly appreciate, my email is cjhillis@vt.edu thanks again. -cjhokie July 26, 2008
oar was so good, i went to their show last year and i think this years was definitely better. love and memories was an awesome way to start off, and then program director too, and night shift and city on down was great to end it. but i can't believe that they didn't play hey girl, and i would have liked to have seen about an hour ago and conquering fools too. overall, a great concert though. 52-50 was awesome too. -emf July 26, 2008
Wow! Best O.A.R. show I have been to. You can always expect a good show at Merriweather but this one has to be my favorite. The band did a good mix of old and new songs. The only bad part was the feedback during This Town, but Marc and the rest of the band made a great recovery.
First half was solid. Destination was really cool, I havent heard them play it live before. I thought the show didnt really pick up until Black Rock. Right after they played their older songs So Moved On, King of the Thing, and Heres To You. It doesnt get much better than that. Poker was probably the best version I have heard yet. It always gets the crowd going wild. The so lonely part in the middle was amazing.
War Song was the highlight of the show. Marc explained how they wrote the song after their tour in Iraq. One of the best live songs I have ever heard them do. Awesome sax solo at the end. And then they followed it with 52-50, great back to back combo. The encore couldnt have been much better. I Feel Home, City on Down, and Night Shift sent the crowd home very happy. Night Shift was the perfect song to close the show.
I wish they had played another one off the new album (Dinner Last Night or Whatever Happened). And I'm still waiting to hear About and Hour Ago in concert. But I cant complain. This was the best show I have been to yet. The band put on a hell of a show in front of the hometown fans.

I have never ever ever had a time at a O.A.R. concert thinking "I wish there would have been more energy" or wanting more w/out being selfish..as everytime they bring it! What a great night for good relaxing music!! I realized even more how great Jerry is as a musician: sax, guitar, percussion, what does he not do..and the fact he jumps from one to the other!

Usually you hear about crowds being bad or to drunk/young...while there were a few fake i.d.'s in use I'm sure...everyone seemed to mind themselves (around me in the lodge and walking around to different vendors) and helped make for a good time...of course at the end the humidity was gone and felt even better to be outside!

Each song was really great and I can't even think of something I would want to make it better..if your thinking of attending a concert, get to one ASAP!

Only drawback, but its at all concerts and w/ all great acts I guess...$30 bucks for a t-shirt..while it is a sweet in between now and then type of t-shirt..was $30 bucks!

10 out of 10 Thanks for a great start to my vacation and like Loverboy made it known I was "loving every minute of it"

GREAT TIME!!!! -fishFL July 27, 2008
26th show for me last night, and the first time I've seen the band since early 2007 in Camden. Always enjoy the band live, especially when they come back to MD for a show. I actually forgot how much I enjoy their live show, and was expecting a lot of new stuff, but was pleasantly surprised by a great mix of old and new. That trio of so moved on/here's to you, and king of the thing combined with the C.O.D./Night Shift encore really made the night for me. I still don't think anything will top getting to see them do the entire Risen album at the Tower theatre in Philly a few years ago, but it was a great show for sure last night. Going right along with some of these other reviews, I was really impressed with "War Song". Haven't had much exposure to the new album, but that was the one that really stuck out for me last night, the jam/sax solo at the end really blew me away. Apparently "Patiently" was on the setlist to be played in the encore right before city on down, which would have made an absolutely incredible 4 song encore, but unfortunately it was cut probably due to time issues. Overall a great show, and I look forward to seeing the band again soon. -cfh072 July 27, 2008
This was my 9th show and all I can say is it was AMAZING!! It was nice to hear a mix of old and new, the enery great all night!! -maryland 1993 July 27, 2008
To start things off...the beautiful girls were a pleasant opening sound. L&M wasn't a bad opener, short, sweet and got it out of the way while giving the crowd some energy. Destination was nice to hear live, program director wasn't too terribly bad and this town was great until the technical difficulties, which they did recover from nicely. LOVE the new version of Lay Down. About Mr. Brown, always, always a great song. Heard the World is getting somewhat old to me, but its a great song to have the WHOLE crowd singing. Living in the end was sweet and Black Rock...blood outro...wow. So Moved On is a classic. King of the Thing, SO happy they played this, this is the one song I really really wanted to hear. Here's to you completed that stint of 3 classics. Shattered, although they've played it every show this tour...was much better live then studio. Poker, so lonely outro, great! Maybe the highlight of the show for me was War Song...WOW. 52-50 was great! I feel home, always personal in Maryland. CITY ON DOWN! and Night Shift, great great great encore. See you guys in September! About and Hour Ago...Whose Chariot? Please!? -sfsteve07 July 27, 2008
did anybody get the usb bracelet i want this show on CD so bad! -Possum July 28, 2008
My 17th OAR show, and a really good one. Everyone ripping on them opening with Love and Memories..come on, they've been doing it for a while, it can't be that surprising anymore. Closing with Night Shift was awesome and a totally welcome surprise. War Song is definitely one of their better live songs..I was blown away. Hearing them play Black Rock and shouting out to Montgomery County is always totally awesome when they're actually doing it at home, and the Blood outro absolutely owns everytime they play it. They hit enough of the staples-City on Down, About Mr Brown, Here's to You, etc. 52-50 was great, and I really enjoyed Lay Down. I wouldn't mind if they never played Program Director again..but that's just me. Overall a 9-these guys have really come into their own as performers. -BlackRockRt28 July 28, 2008
By far the best I've seen from O.A.R. Solid set list and the energy was great! I can't wait to see them in Philly. -PrncssVlrie July 28, 2008
Concert was incredible. Been to Merriweather every year for as long as i can remember. Opening with Love and Memories was incredible. Why not get the crowd goin early. Nobody sat in the Lawn area the whole concert. Loved playing so moved on, king of the thing, and heres to you in a row. Great concert, and love watching them play at home -ifeelhomeROUTE28 August 8, 2008
