All in all, a fantastic show. This was my third show, and I think the guys sounded better at this show than the other two I have seen.
I have to agree about the crowd: they were so-so for most of the show. I think the crowd's energy -- or perhaps lack thereof -- really slowed the band a bit at first. Maybe I'm a bit jaded about crowd energy, though, since my first time seeing the band was in Columbus.
The Palace is an amazing venue for anyone who has never been there before. The show held a few surprises for me, the biggest of which was Poker not being played. I'm not complaining about that; I thought the setlist was amazing.
I was a bit weirded out by the large backdrops of the album cover, especially when I realized the rugs on the stage were the same. I thought the light show, however, redeemed their use.
Marc talked a bit about On My Way heading into the song and it really topped off a fantastic version of it. War Song was...powerful. Marc said something about it never being wrong to support people (as in the troops), and I couldn't agree more. -ukmusicfiend September 18, 2008

This was my first show in 2 years. The venue was awesome. However, the crowd was weak sauce. People just kind of hanging out. Never seen anything like it.
Now let's get to the chase. THEY DIDN'T PLAY POKER. My section was chanting for it... and it just didn't happen. At first, I was in denial. How could this of happened? Somebody next to me said, "It's like Skynard with no Free Bird". I personally was disappointed by this. I'm fine with the band exploring themselves and finding new meaning in their pop music these days. But when you go to the show and there is no 20-minute, constantly evolving, grassroots fan's o.a.r. anthem to all that is great about this band and our experiences following them around... well, I'm a little bitter apparantly. I was listening to my favorite live versions of this song (05-23-02 and 02-26-02) all week prior to the show to get in anticipation for it only to be left standing there with my hands on my head when the lights came back on.
But seriously, just play the song that we all cherish. That's all I'm saying. -delt4oar September 18, 2008
definitely thought the crowd was weak, was expecting more people there. still though i enjoyed the show and the palace theatre is a great venue. actually thought the setlist was pretty good i liked 34th & 8th dareh meyod starter, and always a huge fan of 52-50. i always love o.a.r. so it was a good time! -fowlball1010 September 18, 2008
I couldnt agree more with delt4oar. I have been to around 20something shows all over the country and have never not heard Poker. The crowd was small, but Louisville crowds usually are...and there was a UofL football game at the same time. I really loved the setlist, until the lights came on and no Poker was to be played. I thought the setlist of mostly older stuff, which I love, was appropriate for one of the older OAR crowds I have seen in a few years. I have grown through college and beyond with OAR, and I hate to say this, but if they are getting too old to play Poker, then maybe I'm getting too old to be this passionate about them. -mpru3 September 19, 2008
I thought the show was really great, and I loved the setlist with a lot of older songs. Again, like everyone else that was in attendance, I was shocked that Poker wasn't played. It's like O.A.R.'s "anthem.." This was my third concert, the first being a free one at 4th Street Live in Louisville in Spring '06 and then at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati in Jan. '07. The Palace was an amazing venue and Matt Wertz was a great opening act. -kwright09 September 20, 2008
Yea, I drove hours to see this show at a sweet venue, and paid good money to be upfront and center. I was SO incredibly pumped. This excitement was retained during Matt Wertz, and even the setup. However, as me and my girlfriend were the only ones bouncing around and having a good time throughout, we noticed no one else was. So what if they did not play a PERFECT setlist (like TN), it was still O.A.R.! I tried to not let the crowd get me down, and after having "Short a Try" dedicated to me and my girlfriend, my night was complete. So I thought again, until I stood for ten minutes in amazement after the boys played a killer "City On Down", and the lights came on, but no poker. What are the odds? 1/10 apparently. Still my favorite band by a LONG shot, but my faith hurt a little after walking out of such a promising night. See you guys soon. Please come more to the Midwest. Don't judge the lame crowd just because the circumstances. I am your biggest fan. love you guys. -mzervic September 21, 2008

My second live O.A.R. show. I have a dozen or more shows on cd. Im a HUGE phish fan but there is something about this band i like. I cant belive no poker whats up with that how many times has that happened. Is the guys trying to go in a new direction? I loved short a try and the dareh meyod opener why didnt anyone tape this show? -phunk420 September 23, 2008
